Field Notes: What This Means Here

Field Notes are short observations from the field — things I’m seeing on Hill Country properties as seasons change. These aren’t announcements or how-to guides, and they won’t be frequent or scheduled.

When I post Field Notes here, they’re based on real conditions and patterns I’m noticing across the land I work on. The goal is to share perspective, not instructions, and to help landowners think a little more clearly about what’s happening on their property.

I’ll post them here as time allows.

About Hill Country Land Services

I grew up in DeWitt County, Texas, and have spent most of my life working outdoors and around land. Today, through Hill Country Land Services, I work with landowners across the Texas Hill Country providing professional arboriculture support, habitat management, and ongoing ranch and property care.

My focus is on long-term stewardship — understanding how trees, soil, wildlife, water, and infrastructure work together over time. Many of the properties I help manage benefit from consistent oversight, seasonal planning, and having one knowledgeable point of contact rather than a rotating list of contractors.

I created this group as an extension of that work. I’ll share observations from the field, seasonal considerations, and general guidance relevant to Central Texas properties. The goal is education and clarity, not quick fixes or DIY instruction.

Thanks for being here.
